Birthday Balloons & CHA Photos!

Hey Peeps!

It's been a VERY long time since my last post and I do appologise. Life just seems to get in the way of creating and blogging but I am back with a card to share.

After a FAB but tiering holiday to the US and an EXCITING trip to CHA in Chicago I am just about back to normal. I decided to get straight to using my new supplies I picked up at the PTI booth at CHA, the main event which our trip to the US focused on!

A couple of the new sets I bought was Up, Up & Away, Just the Ticket & Dot Spot. I also bought the co-ordinating dies to go with the sets. I had a blast making this card for my friend who was 50 on Saturday.
I had to use the colours she liked when she saw some of my PTI supplies, Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores and Aqua Mist and as it's supposed to be Summer here in the UK I decided to use the Hot Air Balloons of Up, Up & Away!

Dot Spot added the perfect background and Just the Ticket provided FAB sentiment focus! I used SU! Star Punch and MM glitter stickers for the 50 on the star.

Anyway, enough about the card! Here are a few photos of my trip to CHA and the celebs I got to meet! I think that I was so awe struck that I was there I forgot to take more photos! I'm sure it won't be the last time I visit! I appologise in advance for me looking dreadful & so very pale but I was getting over bronchitis and sinusitis I picked up in NYC!

Above is me and the lovely Nichole Heady! A wonderful and talented lady with such a welcoming heart! A true pleasure to chat to :)

Then I HAD to get my photo with the one and only Dawn McVey! Dawn too so talented and friendly and such an inspirational person. It was really a dream come true to meet Dawn! Lol!

Then, whilst standing in line I saw Ashley Cannon Newel and totally amazed had to ask for a photo with! Lol!

The pictures above and below are of the PTI make and take tables. The one above was with Dawn and Michelle making a card using the exclusive Four of a Kind CHA set. I was totally overcome by making a card in the presence of Dawn & Michelle that my hands were shaking! Doesn't help when your trying to stamp! Lol!

Below is the make & take with Heather & Debbie where we made a beautiful broach using the PTI Beautiful Blooms Dies and Felt. I'm addicted to making them as embellishments for lil boxes! I'll share a pic when I get more organised! Lol!

Thanks for stopping by today! Hopefully I won't be as long in posting again! Lol!

Mid July....When did that happen?!

Hey All!

Oh My, when did Mid-July happen?! I can't believe I've been MIA for so long! Today, however, I am sharing a card I made yesterday to kick start my mojo. I made it using this weeks Mojo Sketch HERE and used PTI die cuts so it's suitable for A Passion for Papertrey current challenge HERE.

For this card I used PTIs Butterfly Dreams and co-ordinating die. I paired the Hawaiian Shores and Hibiscus Burst butterflies with some October Afternoon Thrift Shop Paper. A simple scallop circle and circle punch cut in half with 'Thank You' and some bling finished the card off.

I am pleased I have kick started my mojo, but I won't have much time to play as I am at work Monday and Tuesday and the Wednesday I will be packing my holiday bags ready for a trip to New York for 7 nights then Chicago for 6 nights and the CHA SuperShow!

I am SO excited and will have so much to share when I return! I cannot wait to meet so many bloggers and also spend! Lol!

Dedication

Hiya Peeps!

Sorry I have been MIA lately, after I handed in my dissertation I had a number of things to catch up on that I had neglected to do whilst working night and day to get my dissertation done! Now that I have I am off for 14 days from work and have some lovely things planned! I'll get to that in a bit.

Todays card is totally inspired by the lovely Nichole Heady. My friend from work asked me to create a Baby Dedication card for her Nephew. It took me a while to think what to use but then Baby Button Bits jumped to mind!

I simply printed the font onto the card and stamped the bear in the middle. I used a nestie to cut the scallop matt and rounded all the other corners with my corner chomper. The ribbon is Nichole Heady style and very easy to do. She also has a video HERE showing you how to create the ribbon effect.

The background kraft matt is stamped with background basics hearts in Spring Rain ink. I thought about polka dots but hearts won!

Today it is very windy outside so I can see a full day in the studio creating! I have some design work I want to accomplish then it's play time! I hope to have my new PTI goodies on Monday, they are currently sitting in customs!

Only 6 sleeps to an exciting weekend! It's my birthday on the 14th and my friend Kerry and I have planned a trip to London and a day in Paris :) Oh so can't wait! There is a stamp shop in London that Kerry is taking me to that I've never been to before called Blade Rubber and in Paris there is the most FABULOUS shop called Temple Du Scrap! Plus we will be taking in all the fun both in London and Paris. It's an excellent opportunity for me to research also and take tons of photos for my design work!

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

CARDS Blog Challenge Gallery card

Morning!

I thought I would do a quick post while I am sitting waiting for my dissertation to print, it's taking a while as it's pretty long and I'm doing it best quality which takes ages too! Then it's off to the shop to get them bound. It's a relief to have it finished but I won't be able to relax until everything is all complete!

Anyway! I thought I would share the card I made for the last challenge over on CARDS blog. The challenge was to use woodgrain. I only have a small woodgrain stamp but it was good enough!

I also used the last sketch over on Stamp With Us blog which I found really useful. The card uses on of my new favourite colours, Hawaiian Shores from PTI! I also used my new punch from SU! The Two-Step Bird, loving this punch!

I was lucky enough to make it into the challenge gallery again :) thanks Paige! You can see my card and the other FAB entries HERE.

I'm a bit tired today after another FAB day out with my friend Kerry! It was gorgeous weather and a trip to Sir Stampalot was very successful! Only 19 days till our next excursion and this time it London & Paris! I cannot wait! LOL!

Oh well best go and sit by the printer! Thanks for stopping by!

Let Your Dreams Take Flight!

Hello!

Last night I had a little crafty time and so created a card! I'd already decided I wanted to use some supplies I hadn't yet used! One of them was the Butterfly Punch from SU! so I thought it wise to use the Flight of the Butterfly Stamp Set too!

This is a colour combo that when I first saw it I fell in love with! I decided I wanted to use something other than Kraft! So out came the Lemon, Grey & White!

This is a super simple card and didn't take long at all! I really enjoy making these types of card!
The butterfly trail is a Hero Arts stamp and the sentiment is a PTI stamp!

Only a quick post today as I really have to crack on with my dissertation! I only have a 1000 words left to do and want to get them done today so I can spend the next 2 days getting it proof read and putting images in! Hand in isn't until Monday 26th but I am at work that day so need to hand it in on Friday!

Have a good Monday & thanks for stopping by!

Precious Marimekko!

Happy Sunday!

When people get to know me they soon realise that I have a thing for all things Marimekko!

Marimekko is a Finnish design company and ever since I first visited Finland with my mother in November 1999 a LOVE story began! My favourite design like many is the Unikko 'Poppy' design created by Maija Isola in 1964. It is a FAB design and now comes in many colour ways!

When I first started my design degree I was known as 'Marimekko Girl' until tutors learn't everybody's name! It's quite fitting that I chose to write my dissertation about the company. Anyway, on to today's card.

Whilst sitting at my desk thinking I should be doing more on my dissertation I was distracted and began to think about the material challenge over on A Passion for Papertrey! So I dug through my fabric pieces and found a small piece of the Unikko fabric I had used to make cushion covers.

I decided I wanted a fabric flower on my card and used a die from Sizzix. The small piece of fabric I had only had a small section of pink and white and was mostly the lovely poppy red colour. The combination of Poppy Red and Raspberry Pink with a white background and touch of black is one thing I love about the fabric and I used this for the colour combination for my card!

Above is a close up of the flower which is held together with a brad and fixed onto the card using foam pads. A simple sentiment from Blooming Button Bits and some metal accents add the touch of black! Well, it's inspired me to get on with my dissertation for a couple of hours before Sunday dinner!

Hope you all have a FAB day and enjoy whats left of the weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Delightful Dahlia!

Good Morning!

It's a delightful day here in the North East so far so I thought it fitting to share a card I made the other day using my new Delightful Dahlia stamp set. I'm loving playing with my new stuff! I hope to find some time to create later today!

I made this card quite late at night and I was too tired to really concentrate on colouring, so I stamped the large Dahlia image 3 times and used the Summer Sunrise Copic Trio and coloured each flower one colour. Then simply cut out the flower in decreasing layers and adhered them together on the card.

I used both the leaf images from the set and stamped them randomly to create the background matt. I kept the card simple, keeping the focus of the card the Dahlia! This is another card which uses neon type colours with soft nudes!

Below is a close up of the Dahlia, you can see in more detail how I layered the flower and also added some yellow pearls to the centre. I'm loving Kraft card stock, but I must get out of this habit for always reaching for it!

Off out now to enjoy the weather and run some errands. I then have to tidy my desk and craft space so a Mac switch can take place! Have a great day & thanks for stopping by!
