CARDS Blog Challenge Gallery card

Morning!

I thought I would do a quick post while I am sitting waiting for my dissertation to print, it's taking a while as it's pretty long and I'm doing it best quality which takes ages too! Then it's off to the shop to get them bound. It's a relief to have it finished but I won't be able to relax until everything is all complete!

Anyway! I thought I would share the card I made for the last challenge over on CARDS blog. The challenge was to use woodgrain. I only have a small woodgrain stamp but it was good enough!

I also used the last sketch over on Stamp With Us blog which I found really useful. The card uses on of my new favourite colours, Hawaiian Shores from PTI! I also used my new punch from SU! The Two-Step Bird, loving this punch!

I was lucky enough to make it into the challenge gallery again :) thanks Paige! You can see my card and the other FAB entries HERE.

I'm a bit tired today after another FAB day out with my friend Kerry! It was gorgeous weather and a trip to Sir Stampalot was very successful! Only 19 days till our next excursion and this time it London & Paris! I cannot wait! LOL!

Oh well best go and sit by the printer! Thanks for stopping by!

Let Your Dreams Take Flight!

Hello!

Last night I had a little crafty time and so created a card! I'd already decided I wanted to use some supplies I hadn't yet used! One of them was the Butterfly Punch from SU! so I thought it wise to use the Flight of the Butterfly Stamp Set too!

This is a colour combo that when I first saw it I fell in love with! I decided I wanted to use something other than Kraft! So out came the Lemon, Grey & White!

This is a super simple card and didn't take long at all! I really enjoy making these types of card!
The butterfly trail is a Hero Arts stamp and the sentiment is a PTI stamp!

Only a quick post today as I really have to crack on with my dissertation! I only have a 1000 words left to do and want to get them done today so I can spend the next 2 days getting it proof read and putting images in! Hand in isn't until Monday 26th but I am at work that day so need to hand it in on Friday!

Have a good Monday & thanks for stopping by!

Precious Marimekko!

Happy Sunday!

When people get to know me they soon realise that I have a thing for all things Marimekko!

Marimekko is a Finnish design company and ever since I first visited Finland with my mother in November 1999 a LOVE story began! My favourite design like many is the Unikko 'Poppy' design created by Maija Isola in 1964. It is a FAB design and now comes in many colour ways!

When I first started my design degree I was known as 'Marimekko Girl' until tutors learn't everybody's name! It's quite fitting that I chose to write my dissertation about the company. Anyway, on to today's card.

Whilst sitting at my desk thinking I should be doing more on my dissertation I was distracted and began to think about the material challenge over on A Passion for Papertrey! So I dug through my fabric pieces and found a small piece of the Unikko fabric I had used to make cushion covers.

I decided I wanted a fabric flower on my card and used a die from Sizzix. The small piece of fabric I had only had a small section of pink and white and was mostly the lovely poppy red colour. The combination of Poppy Red and Raspberry Pink with a white background and touch of black is one thing I love about the fabric and I used this for the colour combination for my card!

Above is a close up of the flower which is held together with a brad and fixed onto the card using foam pads. A simple sentiment from Blooming Button Bits and some metal accents add the touch of black! Well, it's inspired me to get on with my dissertation for a couple of hours before Sunday dinner!

Hope you all have a FAB day and enjoy whats left of the weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Delightful Dahlia!

Good Morning!

It's a delightful day here in the North East so far so I thought it fitting to share a card I made the other day using my new Delightful Dahlia stamp set. I'm loving playing with my new stuff! I hope to find some time to create later today!

I made this card quite late at night and I was too tired to really concentrate on colouring, so I stamped the large Dahlia image 3 times and used the Summer Sunrise Copic Trio and coloured each flower one colour. Then simply cut out the flower in decreasing layers and adhered them together on the card.

I used both the leaf images from the set and stamped them randomly to create the background matt. I kept the card simple, keeping the focus of the card the Dahlia! This is another card which uses neon type colours with soft nudes!

Below is a close up of the Dahlia, you can see in more detail how I layered the flower and also added some yellow pearls to the centre. I'm loving Kraft card stock, but I must get out of this habit for always reaching for it!

Off out now to enjoy the weather and run some errands. I then have to tidy my desk and craft space so a Mac switch can take place! Have a great day & thanks for stopping by!

Nude & Neon!

Happy Friday!

It's been a lovely day here in the North East and it's supposed to be good weather tomorrow too :) Whilst enjoying the sun I found time to flick through the latest Elle Decoration magazine. It was full of inspiring stuff and one article was the A-Z of style. The letter N was titled Nudes and Neons.

Stating that one the surface these two colour groups are like chalk and cheese but put them together and you get something new, fresh and exciting. I was inspired by this article and decided to make a card using the two colour groups.

I just had to test out my new Butterfly Dreams set from PTI and the co-ordinating die also! I also wanted to incorporate the new Hawaiian Shores colour. Putting the new colour with Raspberry Fizz gave it a neon feel against the softness of Kraft.

I kept the card really simple and the butterflies also, with only a lil black bling down the centre of each butterfly. I used a Background Basics Diamond stamp stamping it with Hawaiian Shores ink directly onto the Kraft card base. The sentiment is from the Paper Tray set another new set I splashed out on!

Today was the start of my 10 days off from work :) so apart from finishing degree work I am going to find some time to play with all my craft stash and also seriously think about what I am going to order next from PTI! I'm liking Fly Away, Masculine Motifs and Little Argyle so fare but I am sure the list will grow!

Hope to check in tomorrow with another card! Have a great day/evening! Thanks for stopping by!

Heartfelt

Tonight I thought I'd share a card I made a while back for a magazine call but totally missed the deadline so never submitted it!

As you can see it is a sympathy card. A card for this occasion is good to have at hand for the moments when friends and family has lost someone dear to them. I can relate to this and guess I am today as the days draw closer to the 2nd anniversary of the day my mother died. It's hard to believe that it's nearly 2 years since she has been gone as it seems like yesterday that I received the phone call, it was so unexpected and I miss her loads.

Back to the card! I used a PTI and SU! set for this card and embellished it with lil butterflies and bling. I kept the colours warm and soft for comfort.

It was a special feeling when I received sympathy cards from the people who knew my mother and the letters and memories that came with them. She was certainly a special person and is missed everyday.

I am off to make a card now as I have new PTI goodies and they have been sitting on my desk waiting to be played with all day! Totally deserve a break from my dissertation for today and it's back to work tomorrow and Thursday :( There is light at the end of the tunnel as then I am off for 10 days!

Thanks for stopping by!

Here I am!

Here I am 5 weeks later and feeling guilty for a few reasons! Firstly neglecting my blog and secondly for neglecting my crafting supplies! I feel I have found some inspiration today and made a card! Kinda excited because I have PTI goodies on the way and the sun is out again in the North East!

On to the card! I decided it was about time I got a card made for A Passion for Papertrey blog! The theme for the challenge is material. I decided to hop on the trend train and use some felt!!

I die cut the butterfly using the Sizzix Butterfly die from Stampin' Up! Before I cut it out I stamped the felt using Polka Dot Basics and some Raspberry Fizz Ink! From doing that I got busy with the Fizzy and broke out some Raspberry Fizz DP from PTI that I have been hoarding for a long time! Lol!

Anyway! I haven't been up to much just focusing on my degree work, starting my FMP and trying to finish my dissertation! I had a trip to the Hobby Crafts event at the NEC with my friend Kerry and stocked up on a few essentials! Oh and most excitingly I have been planning a holiday in July which is only 103 days away and that is to go to New York & Chicago. I have planned to be in Chicago for the CHA Craft SuperShow! I just hope and keep my fingers crossed I can get a ticket!

I am just as excited and even more so because it's closer being only 32 days away is a birthday trip with my friend Kerry to London and Paris! Whoo Hooo! More on that later! I'm off now to enjoy the sun and for a lil bike ride to meet my hunny on his way home from work!

Thanks for stopping by!
